Popera Soprano Ashley to Open the 2025 Seoul Ballet Festival

Popera soprano Ashley, known for touching audiences with her delicate sensitivity, exceptional vocal technique, and heartfelt voice, will take the stage for the opening performance of the 2025 Seoul Ballet Festival.

Her appearance is expected to be one of the most memorable highlights marking the opening of this year’s festival, setting the stage for an artistic fusion of classical music, pop, and dance.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she studied vocal performance, Ashley has established a distinctive musical identity by combining classical vocal technique with contemporary sensibilities. She has been recognized as an artist who is “creating a new language of popera.”

Her performances have taken her to major international cities including New York, London, and Singapore, where she has been invited to perform before diverse audiences. Critics have praised her as “a world-class voice that perfectly balances emotion and technique.”

Ashley gained wider public recognition in 2019 when she appeared on Season 6 of Mnet’s I Can See Your Voice as the “New York Popera Fairy.” Since then, she has built a strong presence through numerous concerts, musicals, and collaborations with orchestras.

In 2025, Ashley further expanded her artistic range by taking a leading role in the musical Mr. Taylor, demonstrating both expressive depth and acting ability beyond her work as a vocalist.

At the opening performance of the 2025 Seoul Ballet Festival, Ashley is set to present a special stage that transcends the traditional boundaries between ballet and popera.

The Seoul Ballet Festival, one of Korea’s leading performing arts festivals featuring renowned dancers and ballet companies from Korea and abroad, will take place from Friday the 17th through Sunday the 19th at the West Lake Waterfront Stage of Seokchon Lake in Seoul.

Through outdoor ballet performances designed to be enjoyed by the general public, the festival continues to promote the accessibility and international development of Korean ballet.

Under this year’s theme, “Art, onto the Stage of Everyday Life,” the three-day festival will feature a diverse program of performances and audience participation events.
